Anonymous asked: We are talking about a vacation to Chicago next year. What time of year is best? If we had about 5 days or less, what should we do?
I love the Fall here but it can get dicey, it is the midwest after all! I guess it really depends if you love sports and want to go to a cub/sox game or something. That’s not really my cup of tea.
If it were me……. I would go to brunch at Fred’s in Barneys or at RL then do a day of shopping on Michigan Avenue. For cheap eats and wine, I would grab dinner one night at Quartino’s and for a nice dinner I would do Balsan in the Elysian Hotel or NoMi in the Park Hyatt. I would have drinks before dinner in the lounge of the Park Hyatt or on their out door space. I would also walk along the paths of Lake Michigan (weather permitting). Pretty much I would eat and shop a lot which is what I do when I travel to any big city.
There are a ton of touristy things you can do but those things aren’t really up my alley and I am the wrong person to ask. I know my family enjoys Navy Pier (gives me a headache) and going to the Sear’s tower or John Hancock building.
I would take the train and explore some other interesting neighborhoods while here.
Also if you come in the summer. Check out what events are going on in Millennium Park. Sometimes they have outdoor events like the symphony, ballet or opera that are free!
Anyone else have anything good to add? I feel like I am not good with this stuff because I have become so lame!
