Being realistic.
I wanted to share with you guys something I read in “The Couple’s Guide to IVF: Everything you need to know to maximize your chances of success”
I know we all struggle to maintain positivity and hope especially staring down the barrel of a year or years of not achieving a successful pregnancy.
This passage in this book really stood out to me and has given me a lot of reassurance!
“But the fact is that a negative mind-set, in and of itself, won’t affect the outcome of an IVF cycle. In vitro is a highly technical and scientific procedure. Remember: A sperm gets united with an egg in a lab dish, then the resulting embryo is injected into your uterus. Does this sound like a process that could be influenced by bad vibes? Shari was pretty tense during her second round of IVF- as was I - and science worked for both of us despite our trepidation. So don’t give those feelings of hopelessness too much credence. If they come around, remind yourself they are just thoughts. Just air. They are not fact. Not truth. The only way negative thinking can impact your treatment is if you give up prematurely. So put one foot in front of the other and concentrate on doing the right things to get the job done. That constructive act may make you start to feel better.”
